Josie has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults and has trained at Orygen, The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, the world’s leading research and knowledge translation organisation focusing on mental ill-health in young people. 

 

Her extensive experience in complex mental health problems, allows her to utilise evidence based approaches to manage mental disturbances and allow people to overcome obstacles in their lives.

 

Josie is a highly skilled trauma informed therapist,
specialising in Trauma, Complex Trauma and P.T.S.D. Josie has worked with extensively with
Child Protection; Forensicare; disability support providers and adopts a person centred, collaborative team approach to ensure individuals receive the best possible support for themselves, families and carers.

Josie is an empathetic, compassionate, warm and engaging person, who has worked in various employment settings giving her the distinct advantage of connecting with people from all ages
and cultural backgrounds.

 
Josie truly values the power that therapy holds, overcoming many areas in her own life through counselling, such as school bullying, anxiety, trauma and post-natal depression. Josie is a highly skilled, trauma informed counsellor, with extensive knowledge and expertise in evidence based techniques to assist clients heal from traumatic experiences.  

Through this lived experience, she understands the despair people go through feeling alone. Josie has also volunteered for Post Natal Depression Australia (P.A.N.D.A), to help others overcome the symptoms of P.N.D and change the perception around P.N.D.


Josie provides a range of evidence-based psychotherapy/ counselling approaches,  as well as early intervention services, including behaviour therapy. Some therapies Josie is skilled in include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (C.B.T); Person Centred; Gestalt Therapy; Existential Therapy; Trauma therapy, including Play Therapy; Narrative; Solution Focused Therapy (S.F.T); Psychodynamic and Strength Based Framework. 

Josie is fortunate to work alongside many disability providers in Melbourne and provide Therapeutic and Specialist Behaviour Support under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (N.D.I.S).

Josie's speciality is complex behaviours and psychological diagnosis from Cluster's A, B & C Personality Disorders. Josie uses a strength based, person centred approach, building on people's strengths to aid recovery and empowerment.
